Thankfully, Luke has two grandmas that spoiled him so he didn't totally miss out on the holiday. A new book, toys, and a DVD all came his way. And he even decorated his first sugar cookie. It was the most precious thing I have ever seen. But I was also kind of glad that grandma did it with him because that way, I got to soak up all the cuteness (and eat all his efforts) while someone else cleaned up the mess.
After feeling good for the first half of the week, I was back to being sicker than sick on Thursday. The only bright spot in my day was having our first official OB appointment and getting to see T2 again since baby is very good at hiding it's heartbeat from the Doppler. Oh well, I will take any excuse to get an ultrasound I can get. I will never get tired them! T2 even waved to us with it's itty bitty stick arm while we were taking a peek - no sleeping baby this time!
Thursday evening we had big plans... dinner at Chipotle. Woohoo! Seriously, that's what we did. We ate at Chipotle at 5pm as a family of 3. And I couldn't help but laugh a little as Chris and I reminisced about our first Valentine's day together. We had only been together a month but it consisted of dinner, flowers, chocolate covered strawberries, and a diamond necklace. You heard that right. Poor man didn't realize how high he was setting the bar on the first go around.
But, as crummy as I felt, Chipotle was way more my speed. We will celebrate sometime in the near future, when eating is fun again and no longer a chore I have to complete every 2 hours.
I'm trying to remind myself this is a season not a forever. "This too shall pass" was one of my grandma's favorite sayings and she was right. We will have many more Valentine's days together - many without kids in our home. And I'm sure we will be at some fancy restaurant talking about when the kids were little and we couldn't even find the time to celebrate.
Friday we went to Cole's house to play and Luke got his first haircut. At Cole's house? Yep, Madeline gave my kid his first haircut. Well, not officially. It was more a 2 snips kind of thing since Luke's hair was starting to look a bit wing-y behind his ears. So I don't count it as his first official all-over big boy haircut (still not enough hair for that) but I will count it as the first time scissors have ever been used on his head. I even saved the hair in a little ziploc bag. It made me want to cry. Just a little. I blame the pregnancy hormones.
I couldn't end this post without mentioning that today is my fabulous husband's birthday. The big 2-8. Thus begins the 3 months out of the year when we are both the same age. And I can't tease him about marrying an "older woman."

Exciting life we lead, no? Happy Birthday Chris - Luke, T2 and I love you!

My husband and I celebrated Valentine's Day at home. He even fixed his own dinner. I was sick and needed rest. We even didn't have our little one that night and still we celebrated boring style and yes we loved it :)
We celebrated Valentine's Day as a family this year, too. It was fun to include the kids. We had heart-shaped pizza and brownies. It really is about love, not just for your spouse, but for the whole family!
Those photos are adorable!
