Growing up, my parents used to take me to the Orange County fair every year. So I was super excited to start doing the same with Luke. His first summer we didn't go because he was itty bitty and last year we didn't quite make it there but I was determined to go this year before baby E makes her debut!
We went last weekend with our usual gang - minus The Tatum fam as they were busy. So it was just the boys for this annual trip - Luke, Cole, and "baby Declan." I'm pretty convinced Luke will still be calling him "baby Declan" when he's 18. Poor kid.
For some reason, Luke has picked up this weird habit where if he doesn't like a noise he covers his ears. He did this ALOT at the fair because well, there were a lot of noises. I'm not sure what about the cow noises he didn't like but alas, "cover ears" as he likes to call it.
Ps. Isn't my husband the cutest? I have to admit the "essence of ginger" beard is growing on me.
We saw little piglets that were born literally the night before we were there. They were SO tiny. And I couldn't help but feel for the momma pig. All those piglets trying to nurse at the same time. Brutal. And I only complain about nursing one kid. I will admit it here, nursing isn't my fave. There I said it. (Bring on the hate emails.) So I can't imagine trying to nurse 12?! piglets, well kids in my case, at the same time.
Trying to get a picture of all 3 kiddos is quite the feat. Getting them to all look at the same time? Impossible. We are lucky we got them all in one shot together!
Luke rode his first carnie ride and by himself I might add. He covered his ears the whole time because every other kid riding wouldn't lay off their horns. He didn't cry but he definitely didn't look like he was enjoying himself. But then the ride stopped and Chris went to get him out and he said, "that was fun." Apparently Luke's "fun" face is also his "mildly amused" face as well.
After a quick lunch of all the usual fair food suspects, char grilled corn - my fave, we headed out just when the heat and crowds arrived and made it home by nap time.
It's funny because we were really only there for 2 1/2 hours but Chris and I both felt like it had been 12. I can't imagine what it will be like next year when we have 2 kiddos to chase around.
