Well, she was here 8 days ago but I guess this post is better late than never. Blogging has been at the very bottom of my priorities and rightfully so. The blog slipped into a black hole for 6 weeks when I had Luke so I imagine it to be same this time around but will try my hardest to document as much as possible.
Emilee Grace Thomas was born Friday, September 13, 2013 at 4:14pm weighing 7 lbs 15 oz and 20 inches long.
The induction got off to a slow start but picked up speed quickly - it went as well as I could have hoped for. Full birth story to come. Along with some fabulous pictures from our birth photographer, Amber Gallegos.
Settling in at home has definitely been an adjustment. It would be easy if it was just E but now there is Luke to. Luke LOVES his baby sister and his actually adjusting quite well. I have a bit of mommy guilt only because it feels like he and I haven't really spent any time together lately but I know this is just a season and things will get better.
Recovery has been pretty easy on my body this time around except I am still having blood pressure issues along with some issues with my varicose veins. It wouldn't be a post-partum experience for me without a trip to the ER within the first week. Thankfully, they were able to rule out deep vein thrombosis and my new blood pressure medication seems to be working.
Em is doing fantastic, nurses like a champ and then dozes off to sleep soon after. She only cries when you change her diaper. She sounds like a tiny pterodactyl right now. It's super cute. Except at 4am. The past few nights she has woken up at 10:30pm, 1am, and 4am to eat. Definitely do-able.
I think that's all the updates I have for now - keeping it short and sweet. E is napping right now so I should be too!
Thank you all so much for your prayers these past few weeks. I would ask that you continue to pray for me as I adjust to our "new normal." If you know me at all, you know I like routine and schedule so these first few weeks are especially trying, not only physically, but mentally as well.
