Its baaaack! I know you could hardly contain your excitement! Hopefully blogging once a week won't be too difficult with 2 kiddos now. However it is really nice to be able to go back and see what Luke was doing at the same age as far toys, sleeping, eating, etc. Although I do need to remind myself they are different kiddos and might, ok... WILL do things differently. So here we go!
Clothing Size: We outgrew our newborn pajamas about 2 weeks ago and the newborn clothes are pretty much done as well. It makes me sad to think we won't have a tiny baby that size in our house again! She's been in size 1 diapers for 3 weeks now... what can I say? She's a chunk!
New Milestones: I've seen a lot more smiles lately and not from gas. She mostly smiles at her mobile, the wall, any inanimate object really. I try not to take it personal as Luke really enjoyed the ceiling fan at this age. She can hold her head up pretty well and we try to practice at least once a day - she's a strong squirmy one just like big brother.
I should also add here that we had the long 2 hour diagnostic hearing test on Monday and she PASSED! Emilee's hearing is all within normal range. She does still have a bit of fluid on her ears but it's not affecting her hearing and is probably from her horrible reflux.
Milestones I think she is close
to: I'm looking forward to hearing more coos and sounds other than screams. Girlfriend doesn't cry often but when she does man, she's got some lungs. I've heard a few coos lately and it's the sweetest sound ever.
Sleeping: Emilee has been giving us at least one 5-6 hour stretch for a week or so now... in fact, Tuesday night she only woke up once to eat! I'm not getting my hopes up that it will become a regular thing but I will take what I can get at this point.
activity/toy: Still too little for a favorite toy at this point but she really likes her swing and playmat. I can put her on her mat and she will hang out for a good 5 minutes and the time lengthens every day. She loves the lights and music.
Best part about being a mom: I can honestly say I'm doing so much better emotionally this time around. It took me quite awhile to enjoy newborn Luke and while the newborn stage is still not my favorite... I'm enjoying having an itty bitty baby in our house. Mainly because I know it won't happen again.
My feelings swing back and forth... one minute I can't wait for her to get bigger and do "x, y, or z." and then there are times where I look at her and want her to stay little forever. Sure, I'm tired as all get out and I didn't shower until 1:30pm Tuesday but I know that this time is not forever.
This week we: had our annual pumpkin patch visit with all our favorite friends. Here is a family picture from my phone.
I have to admit when I checked my phone after it was taken, I got a bit teary-eyed for a minute. This is our family. We are complete. Someone said " You look so happy, Ash." And you know what? I am. It's hard but it's beautiful.
